First Aid Trainings

Overview

This program aims to develop participants to be able to provide the emergency or immediate care when a person is injured or ill until full medical treatment is available. 

Criteria

  • Basic education

  • Respond to the needs of casualties with major injuries and medical conditions
  • Respond to the needs of unconscious casualties
  • Perform cardio-pulmonary resuscitation
  • Respond to the needs of casualties with major injuries and medical conditions

Overview

To achieve the Practical First Aid Certificate the following elements must be achieved covering the ranges of Adult, Child and Infant. Criteria to be met either by observation or questioning unless otherwise stated

Criteria

  • Basic education 

Module/Topic

Major injury

Candidates must cover all of the following range of major injuries by observation:

  • perform cardio-pulmonary resuscitation
  • severe blood loss and shock
  • muscular/skeletal injury (at least one each of upper and lower body) 
  • burns and scalds 
  • spinal injury
  • head injury

Medical conditions

  • Stroke
  • Heart Attack
  • Diabetes
  • Asthma
  • Febrile Convulsions
  • Meningitis
  • Fevers – relevant to area/islands

Duration: 14 hours

Study Mode: F2F  

Overview

This programme concerns the application of First Aid in emergency situations and the ability to respond promptly and appropriately to a range of situations and incidents in order to preserve life and protect casualties until specialist aid is available.  Simulation is acceptable for this programme where a suitably qualified trainer observes the activity.

    Recognition and care of unconscious casualty 
  • CPR adults and children 
  • Management of blood loss and shock 
  • General management of burns 
  • Recognition and management of fractures 
  • Transportation of casualties 
  • Medical conditions – recognition and treatment

Food Safety Trainings

Overview

This training aims to fulfil the national regulatory requirement under the food regulation of the Maldives. The content is recognized by Health protection Agency (HPA) This training is aligned with the food handlers’ training manual of the World Health organization.

  • Basic education 

Module

  1. Food hazards 
  2. Foodborne disease  
  3. Hygiene measures to prevent food contamination  

Duration: 7 hours

 

Recognition: 

  • Recognized by HPA (mandatory training under the Food regulation of Maldives)
